Sassnitz-Mukran, 17 March 2025 – From 10 April 2025, the popular ferry service from Rügen to Bornholm will resume. The MS Hammerhus (Bornholmslinjen) will take travelers to Rønne in just 3 hours and 20 minutes. At just 55 nautical miles, this is the shortest and only direct connection between Germany and the Danish island. If you want to continue your journey after a stopover on Bornholm, Bornholmslinjen takes just 1 hour 20 minutes from Rønne to Ystad in Sweden or 5 hours 30 minutes to Køge, which is only around 40 km away from Denmark's capital Copenhagen.
The MS Hammershus, which entered service in 2018 and is named after the largest castle ruin in Northern Europe, was specially developed for operation on the Baltic Sea. As a modern RoPax ferry - a combination of roll-on/roll-off for vehicles and pax for passengers - it transports trucks, buses, cars and freight as well as up to 720 passengers.
