Security /ISPS

Security for passengers, customers and freight passing the port in Mukran has always been a major concern of the port operators. The ISPS-Code, the International Ship and Port Facility Security Code being in force since 1 July 2004, is the basis on which all security-related measures are performed in the port.
The port is certified in accordance with SOLAS XI-2 and the STW 34 Convention ISPS and fulfills the high standards of the ISPS code. The Port Facility Security Officer (PFSO) constantly supervises compliance with safety and security regulations and their regular updating.

Relevant security and safety measures apply to the following areas:

  • Clearly identified and spatially separated terminal facilities and areas
  • Security fences and gates
  • Alarm systems
  • Closed circuit television in all of the terminals
  • Identity checks at terminal entries
  • Random entry controls of persons, cars and trucks
  • Certified security service personnel
  • Constant contact to the operating management (24 hours a day)
  • Surveillance of berths from land- and sea-side

Fährhafen Sassnitz GmbH cooperates closely with the responsible federal and state authorities to ensure strict execution of all safety regulations.
